Denture Care

Tips on how to care for your dentures:

  • Clean your dentures daily. Remove your dentures after each meal or snack and brush them with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a mild denture cleanser. Be sure to clean all surfaces of the dentures, including the tongue side.
  • Soak your dentures overnight. Place your dentures in a denture cup filled with cool water or a denture-soaking solution. This will help to remove any remaining food particles and bacteria.
  • Inspect your dentures regularly. Look for any cracks, chips, or other damage. If you notice any damage, take your dentures to your dentist for repair or replacement.
  • Store your dentures properly. When you're not wearing your dentures, store them in a cool, dry place. Do not store them in hot water or in direct sunlight.
  • Visit your dentist regularly. Your dentist can help you to keep your dentures clean and in good repair. They can also check your gums and teeth for any problems.

Additional tips for denture care:

  • Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures. Toothpaste is abrasive and can damage your dentures.
  • Don't soak your dentures in bleach or other harsh chemicals. These chemicals can damage your dentures.
  • Don't chew hard foods or ice with your dentures. This can damage your dentures and your gums.
  • Don't smoke while wearing your dentures. Smoking can stain your dentures and increase your risk of gum disease.
  • If you have any questions or concerns about your denture care, talk to your dentist.
